General Questions
What is Coco TestAI?
Coco TestAI is an AI-powered QA copilot that transforms user stories into comprehensive test cases, test steps, and executable automation code. It uses a 3-stage workflow to minimize AI hallucinations and ensure tests align perfectly with requirements. The Chrome extension reads stories from any browser page—Jira, Linear, Asana, GitHub, or custom tools—with zero API setup required.
Who is Coco TestAI for?
Coco is built for modern engineering teams: QA engineers who want to accelerate test creation, developers who need reliable tests before deployment, and tech leaders who want faster releases without quality compromise. It supports both manual and automated testing workflows, making it valuable for hybrid teams.
How is Coco different from ChatGPT, Cursor, or Claude for test creation?
Generic AI tools generate everything in one shot—high hallucination risk and no review points. Coco uses a 3-stage workflow (Test Cases → Steps → Code) where AI focuses on one stage at a time and you review at each step. This progressive generation minimizes AI hallucinations, provides complete traceability, and ensures tests align with requirements. Plus, Coco's Chrome extension automatically pulls story context from your browser—no manual copy-paste required.
What is the 3-stage workflow?
Coco's 3-stage workflow prevents AI hallucination by focusing generation and providing review gates:
- Stage 1 - Test Cases: AI analyzes the user story and generates comprehensive test cases (positive, negative, edge cases). You review and edit before proceeding.
- Stage 2 - Test Steps: For each test case, AI generates detailed, actionable steps. Steps are usable for manual testing or code generation. You review and refine.
- Stage 3 - Code Generation: Export test steps as executable code in your preferred framework and language. Code matches steps exactly—complete alignment from requirement to execution.
This staged approach ensures AI focuses 100% of its output capacity per stage, with human validation at each gate.

Book Your DemoSetup & Integration
How long does setup take?
Same day with white-glove onboarding. After booking a demo, our team configures the Chrome extension and links your Git repository for you. Coco analyzes your codebase in a few hours (depending on size), then you can start generating context-aware tests with our guidance. Traditional tools require 2 weeks of setup and vendor integration cycles—Coco gets you started the same day with expert support.
What can the Chrome extension detect?
The extension reads user stories from any browser page in real-time using DOM parsing. It works with 50+ tools including Jira, Linear, GitHub Issues, Asana, Azure DevOps, Monday.com, Notion, ClickUp, Trello, and custom internal tools. No integrations or API configurations needed—if it's visible in your browser, Coco can read it.
Why do I need to link a Git repository?
Linking your Git repository provides codebase context to the AI. This enables Coco to generate tests that match your existing architecture, conventions, and patterns. Tests aren't generic templates—they're tailored to your specific project. You link the repository once during setup, and Coco analyzes it to understand your codebase structure.
Is my code and data secure?
Yes. Coco uses read-only access to your Git repository for analysis. The Chrome extension reads stories from your browser locally—no data is sent without your explicit action. All AI processing uses secure connections, and we do not store your proprietary code. Your generated tests remain in your control, exportable to your local environment or CI/CD pipeline.
Does Coco replace my existing testing framework?
No—Coco works with your existing framework. It generates tests; you run them in your existing CI/CD pipeline. Export code in Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, TestCafe, or Puppeteer. Choose Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#. Code includes framework-specific waits, assertions, and error handling. Coco enhances your current workflow—it doesn't replace it.
Features & Capabilities
What type of test coverage does Coco provide?
Coco generates 360° coverage: positive cases (happy path), negative cases (error conditions, invalid inputs), and edge cases (boundary conditions, rare scenarios). You can generate tests for the entire user story or per individual acceptance criteria for granular traceability. The AI systematically identifies scenarios based on requirements and codebase analysis—not generic templates.
When should I create tests with Coco?
During story grooming, before code exists. This is Coco's unique advantage: create tests first to enable test-driven development. By generating comprehensive test cases from user stories before development starts, you enable TDD and improve quality from day one. Internal testing shows significant reduction in post-development defects using this story-first approach.
Can I edit generated tests?
Yes—edit at every stage. In Stage 1, edit test cases via direct text editing or chat with AI to refine. In Stage 2, add, delete, or regenerate test steps. In Stage 3, export code and modify it in your IDE like any other code. Coco provides the foundation; you have complete control over the final output.
What testing frameworks does Coco support?
Coco supports all major testing frameworks:
- Frameworks: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, TestCafe, Puppeteer
- Languages: Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#
- Code Quality: Framework-specific waits, assertions, error handling, and best practices included
Select your preferred framework and language during export—Coco generates optimized code for that specific combination.
How does codebase context improve test generation?
By analyzing your linked Git repository, Coco understands your project's architecture, naming conventions, component structure, and existing patterns. Generated tests reference actual selectors, follow your coding standards, and match your project's organization. This produces tests that integrate seamlessly—no generic boilerplate that requires heavy modification.
Can manual QA teams use Coco?
Absolutely. Test steps generated in Stage 2 are detailed, actionable, and ready for manual execution. Teams with hybrid workflows (manual + automated) use Coco to create comprehensive test cases and steps, then decide per-test whether to execute manually or generate automation code. This provides consistency across both manual and automated testing.
Can I regenerate tests if requirements change?
Yes. If a user story or acceptance criteria changes, regenerate test cases and steps instantly. Edit specific test cases or steps via chat without regenerating everything. This makes test maintenance as fast as initial creation—update requirements, regenerate tests, export new code.
Comparison with Other Tools
Why not just use ChatGPT for test generation?
ChatGPT generates everything in a single prompt—no staged review, high hallucination risk, and no traceability. Coco's 3-stage workflow focuses AI output per stage and provides review gates at each step. Additionally, ChatGPT requires manual copy-paste of stories and codebase context; Coco's Chrome extension and Git integration automate this through white-glove onboarding. Finally, ChatGPT provides no team collaboration or project organization—tests live in individual chat sessions.
Why not use traditional tools like Selenium IDE or Katalon?
Traditional tools require 2 weeks of API setup, vendor negotiations, and IT approval. Coco gets you started the same day with simple Git integration. Traditional tools test code after development—reactive and expensive. Coco tests requirements during grooming—proactive and cost-effective. Traditional tools rely on record-and-playback or manual creation. Coco uses AI to generate comprehensive test coverage systematically.
How does Coco compare to code generation tools like GitHub Copilot?
GitHub Copilot and similar tools generate code from inline prompts or comments—they're designed for developers writing application code. Coco is purpose-built for QA workflows: it reads requirements, generates test cases and steps first, then exports framework-specific test automation code. Copilot has no understanding of test strategy, coverage analysis, or requirement traceability. Coco provides end-to-end test workflow from story to executable code with validation at every stage.
Why not write tests manually?
Manual test creation takes hours or days per feature. Coco generates comprehensive test cases and steps in minutes. Manual testing coverage depends on individual tester experience—edge cases are often missed. Coco systematically identifies positive, negative, and edge cases. Manual tests are reactive—written after code exists. Coco enables proactive testing during story grooming before development starts.
